Coventry Township Board of Zoning Appeals

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

 

The Coventry Township Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Coventry Township Community Center, 335 E Willowview Drive, Akron, Ohio 44319, to consider the following requests:

 

2025-11: Dante Rini, 5374 Shadow Ridge Circle NW, North Canton, Ohio

The applicant is requesting two side-yard setback variances and one rear-yard setback.  The proposal is for a new rear-yard facing residential deck.  This property is located in a R-3 Residence District at 3351 Dorwil Court, Akron, Ohio 44319, Parcel Number 1905501, and is a lot of record.  The side-yard setback variance on the north side is for 10 feet or 66.67% of the required 15 feet (Section 8.03.C).  The side-yard setback variance on the south side is for 3.3 feet or 22.00% of the required 15 feet (Section 8.03.C).  The rear-yard setback variance is for 10 feet of the required 25 feet or 45% of the required setback (Section 8.03.E).

2025-14: Michael Mallory, 418 Lemar Avenue, Coventry, Ohio

The applicant requests a variance for the maximum size of a garage.  The proposal is for a new 1,500 square foot residential garage, which is 49% over the maximum permitted garage size of 768 square feet (Section 8.03.E).  This property is located in a R-3 Residence District at 418 Lemar Avenue, Coventry, Ohio 44139 and contains Parcel Numbers 1905241, 1905238, 1905239, and 1905240, which are lots of record.  The property owner is concurrently conducting a lot consolidation process with Summit County.

2025-15: Steve Garrott, Compass North Church, 2268 South Arlington Road, Akron, Ohio

The applicant is requesting an approval of a conditionally permitted use.  The proposal is for a church, which is conditionally permitted (Section 6.01.B.3).  The property, currently owned by the Tadmor Shriners, is located at 3000 Krebs Drive Parcel Number 2100024, is a lot of record in a R-1 Residence District.  The proposal will be reviewed for compliance with Section 3.06.
