Trash & Recycling Program

The Board of Trustees established a Township-wide Trash and Reycling Program effective July 1, 2012 in conjuction with the City of New Franklin and Republic Waste Services. A five year contract was renewed beginning January 1, 2017.

Recycling Guidelines

Please recycle the following items in your provided container:

  • Plastics:
    Milk, Juice, Bleach, Laundry Detergent Jugs, Jelly, Catsup, Mustard, Mayo Jars or any Jars you would generate from your household kitchen. Any Jars you put out for recycle must be washed out and free of any food or material.
  • Bi-Metal (tin):
    Cat or Dog Food Cans
  • Aluminum:
    Pop or Beer Cans
  • Glass:
    Any type of Jars that would be generated from your home.
  • NEWSPAPER AND CORRUGATED CARDBOARD

ITEMS SHOULD BE LARGER THAN 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER, AND SMALLER THAN A 5 GALLON BUCKET. (Small items get stuck in the sorting machinery, and items that are too large will not fit)

The following items CAN NOT be recycled and should go in your regular trash container:

Chairs, gas tanks, batteries, wood, lawn mowers, light bulbs, doors, lawn furniture, children’s unwanted toys, swimming pool liners, windows, beds, microwaves, swing sets, flower pots, paper products, plastic bags, styrofoam, food, drywall, plumbing.
